Digipaks Analysis

A Digipak is a patented term that belong to AGI Media, this was created around the 2000. A digipak is the same form and size as a standard CD case. This is usually made up of a book style outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD, DVD or both.
Nowadays, digipaks are preferred by label artists as it offers the consumer a more interactive experience than older CDs cases. Furthermore, digipaks offer a “competitive advantage” than other cases as many fans often try to purchase a unique merchandising, making it a cheaper option than vinyls. However trending international artists don't use digipaks, they keep using CD's and vinyls an example of this is Sebastian Yatra.

Adavantages of Digipaks for the audience:
- Offers more than just a CD
- Less risk of disk damage
- It could become on a collector item
- Sentimental value, customers perhaps attended to one of the live shows featured
- More eco-friendly as most are produced from recyled paper or card
Disadvantages of Digipaks for the audience:
- More expensive than normal CD cases
- Fragile cover material, higher risk of paper being peeled apart
- Nowadays everything is electronic
Analysis of existing Digipak:


In the images above we can see Adele's SkyFall Digipak.
The front of the pack has the main image which represents the album and can already connote what is the genre of the album in this case. In the front case we can see Daniel Craig alone and the face of Adele the singer, this album created by Adele is the theme of the film.
This links to creating a brand image with the logo of the film "007" in the artist increasing its awareness. The images portrayed in the album also gives the audience an insight of the film with a dark background with blue dashes which portray the tone of the rhythm and lyrics of the film.
In the back of the digipak cover we can appreaciate information of the tracks that are included on the CD and information of the companies that have produced the soundtracks.
